The new program in the Centre Region that ministers specifically to families and individuals with multiple trauma and other mental health/psychiatric issues has arrived!! The name of this new program is

The Individual and Family CHOICES Program

CHOICES stands for

Center for Holistic Options & Integrated Counseling, for Empowering Selves.

Those of us developing the program just call it CHOICES for short!

While the title is a mouthful it really captures what those of us developing this program are hopeful it will become. We have been tirelessly reading about and studying holistic healing practices such as cranial-sacral therapy and other body centered approaches. We have been reviewing the literature as well as experiencing Energy Therapy healing practices such as accupressure and accupuncture and other Eastern systems of healing. We have been researching approaches to healing children such as Equine Therapy and Voice and Music Therapy as well as other more traditional approaches such as Sand-Tray work and Play Therapy. Cutting edge but empirically supported treatment strategies such as EMDR, Neurofeedback, and Internal Family Systems will be an important part of this new program as well as more traditional approaches that have been tried and true.  All of the modalities we will provide in this new program will be integrated so that a team approach to an individual's healing will be utilized. When the program becomes fully operational we are hopeful that a family can walk through the doors and each family member whether child, adolescent, or adult, can get whatever they need for their fullest possible healing in one place. Our promise is to be progressive, holistic, and comprehensive but also very careful, ethical, and safe. These are exciting times for me and the other people involved in this project....Please keep us in your prayers and send us positive energy!  

The new program has its own website and although it is still in progress you are welcome to explore it. You can view the reasoning of our unusual name and read about the Mission and the  Philosophy of Care we hope to maintain in the center. You can also get glimpses of some of the practitioners that are planning to practice there and some of the specialties we will be offering. Things will be going up on it rather quickly now as we are hitting our timelines for office space, professional trainings and all the other things that go into opening up a new program so keep checking it pretty regularly!
