From 2003- 2006, I served as an Adjunct Instructor at Penn State University both in my department of Counselor Education/ Rehabilitation Services and the World Campus (Internet Based Courses). In May of 2007 I fulfilled all of the requirements to obtain a Certificate of College Teaching Excellence from the Graduate School of Penn State University. This was a voluntary certificate program available to all graduate students of the university and involved teaching at least three additional courses under the tutelage of a professor mentor as well as taking actual classes in teaching pedagogy. An additional requirement, met in the construction of this very website, was demonstration of the use of current technology for the purposes of academic instruction.
In May of 2007 I accepted an appointment in my department of non-tenure track Assistant Professor in Counselor Education and Rehabilitiation Services. I am very excited to be back working in the classroom with future professionals in the counseling field and look forward to facilitating the growth and development of counselors in training through my teaching. I am also excited to learn as well from the students themselves as we tackle difficult issues and trends facing our profession these days.
